Taman Ayun Temple Mengwi Bali is one of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage in Bali. It is located in Ayodya Street No. 10, Mengwi, Badung Regency, Bali. This beautiful temple has unique landscape. It is situated between 2 different rivers. There are some beautiful lotus flowers on the rivers that surrounding the temple area. Nearby this site, there is Mengwi traditional market. This is the Temple of Mengwi Royal Family. The Temple was built on years of 1632 and finished 2 years later on years of 1634. It was built by I Gusti Agung Putu which is the King of Mengwi Kingdom on that time. He was helped by a Chinese race architect from Banyuwangi named Ing Khang Ghoew. He create the layout of the temple based on old legend Adhiparwa. It is telling about Mahameru Mountain that floating in the middle of the Sea of milk.

The temple is surrounded by 2 different rivers on both sides. There is a small bridge to enter this site. The bridge entrance is Balinese traditional carving style. Once you enter the front area, there is a counter to buy entrance ticket. The ticket is only IDR 20.000 per person for foreigner. And IDR 10.000 for domestic visitor (the ticket price might change in the future with no notice). The local people that praying here do not need to pay any ticket entrance. In the front part of the temple, there is lovely garden area with a small pond. And there is Saraswati Goddes statue in the middle of the pond. On right hand side, there is a cock fighting arena for local entertainment and “tabuh rah” ritual.TAMAN AYUN TEMPLE MENGWI BALI

Moving the next area which is the middle part, there are several handmade stone carving statue as the symbolism of the guardian in the temple. The middle part is the area of re-preparation for those who will do praying in this temple. Tourist is not allowed to enter the main part of the temple. But, we can have a look of the main part from the side. Small river flow is also surrounding the main side of Taman Ayun Temple Mengwi Bali. In the middle of the area, there are several Tumpang Meru as the throne of the Gods.

Taman Ayun Temple Mengwi Bali purpose is to pray for the ancestor of Mengwi Royal Family. So basically this is the Mengwi Royal Family Temple. Since it is the royal family temple, the local people also come here to pray for their royal family ancestor. On 2012, choose this site as one of the World Cultural Heritage.
