Bali offers many interesting photo spots. Almost all angles can be used as a location to take pictures. One of them is Bunut Bolong. Have you ever heard that? The place is not as wide as other attractions as you might have visited. But Bunut Bolong has its own characteristics. This place is one that you must visit while in Jembrana.

Bunut Bolong is a large and wide hole found in the Banyan Tree. It is located in Manggisari Village, Jembrana Regency. The size of the hole is quite large and wide. So that the main road that connects the existing roads in Manggisari Village in West Bali to parts of North Bali can be built. The naturally-formed big hole makes Bunut Bolong became the main marker of the famous road in Jembrana Regency.

The Bunut Bolong located in the highlands, it’s often covered by thick fog. This atmosphere will add to the mystical aura of the Banyan Tree. You can visit Bunut Bolong to take pictures and capture the moment in this famous place. This Banyan Tree is very sanctified by the locals. Residents believe that the age of this tree has reached hundreds of years.

The Banyan Tree is famous for being haunted. Once upon a time someone tried to cut this tree, but s/he didn’t succeed. Instead, the person died a few days later. Since then, no one dared to try to cut the tree. People who will carry out weddings and convoys of mourners are also forbidden to walk past the tree hole. Because it is believed to be bad luck afterwards. Therefore, a special lane on the left of the tree is provided so that people who will carry out the wedding ceremony can pass through and Pitra Yadnya. In honor of this Banyan Tree, residents make small temples on the left and right side of the tree. Everyday, local residents come to pray and place canang in the temple.

Based on the stories of local residents, the story of Bunut Bolong cannot be separated from the legend of Dang Hyang Sidhi Mantra. It is said that when Dang Hyang Sidhi Mantra meditated at Bunut Bolong, there was a large stone nearby. Then, the local residents built a temple that was made of big stone. This was done in honor of Dang Hyang Sidhi Mantra. The temple was then given the name Pura Bhujangga Sakti. It is located in the southern part of the Banyan Tree. Well, when you are in Bunut Bolong, you can see this temple standing firm.
