The exit for Route 29 (John Fitch Parkway) departs from U.S. 1 (Trenton Freeway) to Warren Street. Route 29 straddles the Delaware River between south Trenton and Lambertville. Mercer County Waterfront Park (Double A baseball), lies just south of U.S. 1 along Route 29. 12/19/17

An entrance ramp joins U.S. 1 (Trenton Freeway) north from Barlow Street and the west end of Route 33 ahead of the State Street overpass. The ensuing exit joins U.S. 1 with Perry Street in north Trenton.

The exit for Mulberry Street departs U.S. 1 northbound just beyond the Olden Avenue over crossing. Mulberry Street loops north from Nottingham Way and Clinton Avenue at East Trenton to U.S. 206 on the city line. 12/19/17
Mulberry Street serves residential areas adjacent to U.S. 1. Truck and through traffic headed to north Trenton is directed to the succeeding exit for U.S. 1 Business to U.S. 206 (Princeton Avenue) south. U.S. 1 Business follows Strawberry Street west from a wye interchange with U.S. 1 to Brunswick Avenue northeast into Lawrence Township. 12/19/17
Reassurance marker posted for U.S. 1 at the Mulberry Street underpass. Lawrenceville lies along U.S. 206 near the exchange with I-295. The forthcoming left exit to Strawberry Street (U.S. 1 Business) links U.S. 1 with Brunswick Circle and U.S. 206 (Brunswick Avenue / Lawrenceville Road) four blocks west of the Trenton Freeway. 10/03/04
Traffic departs U.S. 1 north for U.S. 1 Business (Strawberry Street) and U.S. 206. U.S. 206 follows a one way couplet south from Lawrenceville Road and Brunswick Circle to Downtown along Brunswick and Princeton Avenues. North of the split, U.S. 206 follows Lawrenceville Road 3.8 miles to Lawrenceville. U.S. 1 Business (Brunswick Avenue) returns to U.S. 1 in two miles. 12/19/17

Interstate 295 comprises the Trenton Belt Line between Yardley, Pennsylvania and White Horse. Prior to 2018, I-295 west from U.S. 1 was part of I-95. 12/27/18
The southbound entrance ramp for I-295 departs from U.S. 1 (Brunswick Pike) beyond the Delaware & Raritan Canal. I-295 travels south through the south Jersey suburbs of the Philadelphia metropolitan area en route to New Castle, Delaware. The busy commuter route parallels both U.S. 130 and the New Jersey Turnpike from Bordentown southward to Deepwater at the Delaware Memorial Bridge. 12/27/18
I-295 loops southward seven miles from U.S. 1 to White Horse and the Trenton Complex interchange with I-195 east and Route 29 north. I-195 heads east from I-295 to the New Jersey Turnpike (I-95) near Allentown and Belmar on the New Jersey coast. 12/19/17
Interstate 295 north previously transitioned to I-95 south at U.S. 1. The freeway continues west to Ewing Township and across the tolled Scudder Falls Bridge south into Bucks County, Pennsylvania. 12/27/18
I-95 west to Bristol, Pennsylvania was replaced with an extension of I-295 following the completion of the PA Turnpike interchange at Bristol in 2018. I-95 shifted onto the Pearl Harbor Memorial Extension east to the NJ Turnpike mainline at Mansfield Township. 12/27/18
I-295 heads west through Lawrenceville Township from U.S. 1 (Brunswick Pike). Princeton Battlefield State Park lies north of I-295 via CR 538 (Princeton Pike). 12/27/18
U.S. 1 north expands to four lanes to the Quakertown Mall off-ramp. Ahead is the turn-off for Grovers Mill Road (CR 638) and Bakers Basin State Park. Grovers Hill Road serves the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission motor vehicle facilities nearby before meeting Clarksville Road at CR 533 (Quaker Bridge Road). 10/03/04
A folded diamond interchange joins U.S. 1 with Quakerbridge Mall next. CR 533 (Quaker Bridge Road) follows by the mall complex to the east. 10/03/04
A turn-off provides additional access from U.S. 1 (Brunswick Pike) north to Quakerbridge Mall ahead of the cloverleaf interchange with CR 533. 10/03/04
A collector distributor roadway ensues after Quakerbridge Mall for County Route 533 (Quaker Bridge Road) south to Mercerville and Province Line Road north to Mercer Mall and the Nassau Park Pavilion retail area. 10/03/04
North from U.S. 1, CR 533 separates from Province Line Road for Quaker Road north to U.S. 206 in Princeton Township. CR 569 overtakes Province Line Road west into Lawrence Township. 10/03/04

The next in a series of interchanges along U.S. 1 north joins the six lane route with Meadow Road at Carnegie Center in one half mile. 10/03/04
A collector distributor roadway separates from U.S. 1 north for Meadow Road, Carnegie Center Drive and Carnegie Center Boulevard. Meadow Road joins the expressway with Canal Points Boulevard to the west and CR 638 (Clarksville Road) to the east. 10/03/04

A turn-off connects the U.S. 1 c/d roadway with Carnegie Center Drive south. Carnegie Center Drive encircles Carnegie Center to the east. 10/03/04
Alexander Road crosses U.S. 1 midway between the borough of Princeton and Princeton Junction in West Windsor Township. A six-ramp parclo interchange joins the two roads in one quarter mile. 10/03/04
Alexander Road ties into a roundabout with Post Road 1.3 miles to the south at Princeton Junction. Northward the road enters Princeton as Alexander Street on the 1.9 mile long drive to Mercer Street (CR 583). 10/03/04
CR 571 (Washington Road) meets U.S. 1 at a hybrid traffic circle intersection at Penns Neck. The county route stems southeast from Route 27 (Nassau Street) in Princeton to Princeton Junction and CR 526 (South Mill Road). A 0.32 mile portion of CR 571 doubles as Route 64. 10/03/04
All traffic bound for Washington Road uses the traffic circle with CR 571. CR 571 travels 44.06 miles overall from Princeton southeast to Hightstown and Toms River. CR 526 branches south from CR 571 to Windsor and east to CR 549 in Lakewood Township. 10/03/04
U.S. 1 crosses the Millstone River into Middlesex County midway between Washington Road and Scudders Mill Road. Scudders Mill Road (CR 614) stems east from the expressway around Plainsboro along a 2.5 mile long four lane bypass. 10/03/04
A modified trumpet interchange links U.S. 1 and Scudders Mill Road west of Plainsboro. An extra loop ramp links with the Scudders Mill Road entrance ramp to U.S. 1 south for motorists originating from Plainsboro Road (CR 614). 10/03/04
The U-turn ramp for U.S. 1 south provides access to an apartment complex, retail area and Mapleton Road north along the Millstone River to Kingston. 10/03/04
U.S. 1 north next partitions with a two lane mainline and two lane distributor roadway for Forrestal Road, Stellarator Road and College Road. 10/03/04
Forrestal Road links U.S. 1 with the Princeton Landing community to the west. A three quarter cloverleaf interchange follows with College Road to Forrestal Village. 10/03/04
College Road winds southeast from U.S. 1 to Forrestal Center east and CR 614 at Plainsboro. 10/03/04
A loop ramp connects U.S. 1 with College Road for Forrestal Center west and Forrestal Village. Part of the Forrestal Village project, this interchange was completed in September 1990 at a cost of $13.9 million. 10/03/04
Within South Brunswick Township, U.S. 1 north passes by Monmouth Junction to the west end of CR 522. CR 522 constitutes a four lane divided highway east four miles to U.S. 130.
A loop ramp joins Promenade Avenue west from CR 522. The arterial heads 1.4 miles to Route 27 (Lincoln Highway) outside Kingston. 10/03/04
U.S. 130 northbound ends at U.S. 1 in North Brunswick ahead of the Milltown Road (CR 606) overpass. 10/03/04
A cloverleaf interchange joins Ryders Lane (CR 617) with U.S. 1 just south of the New Brunswick city limits. 10/03/04

Ryders Lane meanders northwest through The State University of New Jersey - Rutgers campus to Route 172 (Clifton Avenue / George Street). 10/03/04
U.S. 1 enters New Brunswick ahead of a cloverleaf interchange with Route 18. Route 18 leads southeast from New Brunswick to South River, East Brunswick and Old Bridge. The state route ends at Route 138 in Wall Township. 10/03/04
U.S. 1 north at the southbound off-ramp for Route 18. The New Jersey Turnpike trumpet interchange with Route 18 lies 0.6 miles to the east. 10/03/04
Route 18 follows an expressway westward along the Raritan River through New Brunswick to Piscataway Township. 10/03/04
U.S. 1 crosses the Raritan River between New Brunswick and Edison Township. Northbound traffic utilizes a 1929 concrete arch bridge while southbound takes a 1975 deck girder bridge. 10/03/04
U.S. 1 transitions from an at-grade expressway into an arterial lined with older residential development and commercial strip malls through Edison Township. Sandwiched between the street grid is a parclo interchange with CR 514 (Woodbridge Avenue) east of Highland Park. 10/03/04
CR 514 passes over U.S. 1 beyond the eastbound entrance ramp to Raritan Center and Woodbridge. Traffic to CR 514 west leaves U.S. 1 north via a loop ramp onto Woodbridge Avenue ahead. 10/03/04
The succeeding traffic light on U.S. 1 north is at CR 529 (Plainfield Avenue). Plainfield Avenue takes CR 529 northward from Woodbridge Avenue (CR 514) to Stelton Road through Piscataway Township. 10/03/04
U.S. 1 north at CR 529 (Plainfield Avenue) south. A U-turn via Craig Street is required for CR 529 north to South Plainfield. 10/03/04

Ramps with CR 531 (Main Street) and Interstate 287 ties into U.S. 1 within close proximity at the community of Bonhamtown. A six-ramp parclo interchange joins CR 531 with the US route 0.7 miles north of Woodbridge Avenue (CR 514) by Raritan Center. 10/03/04
Traffic to CR 531 (Main Street) northbound departs U.S. 1 north ahead of the cloverleaf interchange with Interstate 287. Main Street leads CR 531 north 0.75 miles to Amboy Avenue (CR 501) and 1.3 miles to Route 27 (Middlesex Avenue) in Metuchen. 10/03/04
The entrance ramp from CR 531 north joins U.S. 1 ahead of the exit onto I-287 east. I-287 transitions to Route 440 at the crossing over the New Jersey Turnpike 0.9 miles to the east. Route 440 extends the freeway east five miles to Perth Amboy and the Outerbridge Crossing onto Staten Island, New York. 10/03/04
The exit for I-287 north to Perth Amboy and Raritan Center (via CR 514 south) leaves U.S. 1 north. I-287 forms an outer bypass of the North Jersey metropolitan area and New York City. The freeway also serves commuters through communities such as Metuchen, Piscataway, Somerville, Morrisville and Parsippany to the west. 10/03/04
I-287 travels west from U.S. 1, 11 miles to Bound Brook, 16 miles to Bridgewater and 20 miles to I-78. I-287 curves northeasterly from Pluckemin toward Morristown, Boonton and Mahwah.
I-287 crosses the state line 68 miles to the north at Suffern, New York, where it joins I-87 (New York Thruway) eastward en route to I-95 (New England Thruway) at Rye. 10/03/04
Leaving the exchange with I-287, U.S. 1 quickly meets CR 501 (Amboy Avenue) at a parclo interchange. Amboy Avenue connects Metuchen to the west with Perth Amboy to the east. 10/03/04
CR 501 (Amboy Avenue) heads through Fords to Kings Georges Road and the Garden State Parkway at Route 184. The county route overlays both Route 184 and Route 440 east to the Outerbridge Crossing. 10/03/04
U.S. 1 converges with the Garden State Parkway (GSP) by Menlo Park Terrace in Woodbridge Township. A loop ramp joins the GSP north to Union, Newark, Orange and Bloomfield. There is no access to the GSP south. 10/03/04
U.S. 1 U.S. 9 North
U.S. 1 continues north by Woodbridge Center Mall to a wye interchange with U.S. 9 north. U.S. 9 combines with U.S. 1 north from Perth Amboy and Sayerville to Fort Lee. A parclo interchange follows with Route 35 (Saint George Avenue). Route 35 travels to South Amboy, Perth Amboy and Rahway within the vicinity of Woodbridge. 10/03/04
U.S. 1/9 northbound at the signalized intersection with Avenel Street (CR 650) in Woodbridge. Avenel Street heads east from Route 35 (Saint George Avenue) near Colonia to Avenel and CR 514 (Rahway Avenue). 10/03/04
U.S. 1/9 ascend over the New Jersey Coast Railroad (NJ Transit) line between Woodbridge and the Union County line. The narrow four lane bridge over the railroad line was replaced with a modern six lane span after 2005. 10/03/04
A New Jersey Turnpike trailblazer appears along U.S. 1 north ahead of the wye interchange with Interstate 278 east in Linden. 08/29/05
U.S. 1/9 cross Orchard Brook and reach an industrial area just south of I-278. A set of signals join the six lane arterial with a plant entrance. 08/29/05
Interstate 278 branches east from U.S. 1/9 to I-95 (New Jersey Turnpike) and the Goethels Bridge onto Staten Island, New York. 08/29/05
A previous button copy sign for I-278 east to Staten Island appeared next to empty brackets for an I-278 west overhead. The unconstructed alignment of I-278 extended 7.7 miles northwest to Interstate 78 at Springfield. It was dropped in 1967 due to costs and local opposition.1 04/10/00
Entering the wye interchange with I-278 east from U.S. 1/9 north in Linden. U.S. 1/9 continue to Elizabeth, Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), Route 21, U.S. 22 and I-78 at Newark. I-278 runs east two miles to the Goethels Bridge onto Staten Island. I-278 crosses the Verrazano Narrows Bridge to Brooklyn in 13 miles. 08/29/05
Interstate 278 provides a direct link to the New Jersey Turnpike at Exit 13. 08/29/05
U.S. 1/9 north rise onto the Pulaski Skyway from Newark to span the Passaic River into Kearny. The skyway touches back down at Route 139 and Tonnele Avenue in Jersey City. 03/15/00
