Eddy was worried. Worried about his best friend. Brett hadn't been acting right the past few days. What troubled him even more was the fact that Brett hadn't told him what was going on. They were supposed to confide in each other, be each other's rock. Eddy didn't know how to express his concern in any form other than (s)mothering.

He really was acting like a mom; telling Brett to eat and rest up. It was natural to him, though. He wanted to take care of Brett, make sure he was ok.

Eddy thought about this as he went on a run. He was starting to get out and be more active lately. He hadn't really told Brett about it, but, really, it wasn't really a huge thing. (A/N: have you seen how 'Daddy' Eddy looks recently? Holy shit) He could mention it later.

After about an hour, Eddy returned to his home and hopped in the shower. For all he knew, he could be worrying for nothing. Brett could be just fine. Except Eddy knew better. He knew Brett better. Something was wrong. He didn't want to push, but this was his best friend. They had known each other for years.

As Eddy dried off, he told himself that he wouldn't pry. Brett would tell him on his own time, right?

He hoped so.

Eddy and Brett finished up shooting a video. Brett was still chuckling from a joke they had made mid-filming. Eddy chuckled too.

"We're hilarious, bro." Brett mused, turning off the video lights.

"Hell yeah."

Eddy watched quietly as Brett carefully packed up their equipment. Brett didn't seem to be bothered by Eddy's lack of help, infact, he preferred it that way. Brett could be a bit OCD at times and Eddy had come to learn that if Brett wanted help, he would just ask.

That's why...

Eddy pressed his lips into a thin line.

He was so certain Brett would tell him in his own time...

Brett turned around and looked at Eddy for a moment. "You ok bro?"

Chen quickly responded, "Yeah, just wondering what I should eat for dinner."

Brett laughed. "Of course you are."

A good lie, for now.

"Hey, Brett, you should eat dinner with me."

To Eddy's surprise, Brett sputtered at this.

"Uh-- yeah, I guess."

"Not sure what I'm gonna eat yet, though. What do you want to eat?"

Eddy was confused at how embarrassed Brett seemed to be at this simple question. It was just food.

Brett cleared his throat. "Anything's fine. We both like the same things."

Eddy clicked his tongue. "We could go to that Japanese restaurant down town you like so much."

Brett struggled to find words.

Interpreting this as something good, Eddy smiled wide. "Alright then! Let's finish this up and go out!"

He should have worded that a little differently.
